Less Crank, More Thank

Look at these sweet girls. This is right after Emma finished her morning session of virtual kindergarten. We all wanted to do a good job with keeping our goals so I reminded the girls to do their handwriting and they sat down and did it without a second reminder. They both really like to be precise and make their letters look just like the ones in the book. And when Lucy isn't sleeping, she likes to join them and make a book or draw on paper just like them.

I look at these pictures and moments like this and wonder, "how and why do I ever get cranky with these kids?" Good question. Today I got cranky while I was trying to run on the treadmill and Alice complained that Lucy wouldn't share with her. I tried to solve the problem while running and talking to them but eventually I turned off the treadmill and moved Lucy upstairs and told her that we share toys and to come back down when she was ready to share. Lucy didn't seem fazed by me and my angry voice but I feel bad for how frustrated I got. They really are such sweet girls.

Anyway, as you can see in the picture, Lucy is asleep on the couch. After I got Emma and Alice started on their handwriting I held Lucy close and told her I was sorry for getting mad at her this morning and that I loved her. And then I just held her close for a bit and she cuddled in. I asked if she'd like to lie on the couch and within seconds she was sound asleep.

I don't have much else to post today. The take home message is that we have really sweet children and I still have a lot to learn as a mom. I backed up and took a second picture so you can see the sweet babies as well - all five of our kids in one little space. That is also pretty cool - that we can have five kids so close but it doesn't really seem like that many because they are just so good. I should focus on being less CRANKy and more THANKful. That's what I was going for in the title. :)
