These sweet babes napped TOGETHER today! I do not have them sleep together very often and the few times I've tried, it usually doesn't last too long (they usually whap each other in the face). But today they napped together for their entire naptime - about two hours. Incredible.
It was especially sweet because I hadn't heard them and it had been pretty long, so I went up to check on them and found them both happily awake in their crib, just talking to each other and playing with their pacifiers. So cute. I hope stuff like this becomes a regular occurrence. Here is a video of what they were like when I came in to check on them:
I love whenever any of my girls are happily playing with each other. I know, what parent doesn't love that. Anyway, here a bunch of photos of Lucy playing with the babies (notice that once again the girls have put the babies' Thanksgiving headbands on their heads. :)
If you look closely, I think this is the day that Alice put mascara on herself and Lucy. Alice actually did a pretty good job. I didn't know about it til Lucy proudly came and showed me that she had on mascara and told me that Alice did it. Wow. I still hardly know how to put on mascara. And don't worry, I congratulated Alice on doing such a great job but let her know that for now, mommy will be the only mascara applicator.
Lucy talking on her "phone."
Showing the phone to Mabel.
And giving us that classic Lucy face. Love all these sweet girls. :)
So, I had said that I would make the turkey. However, the night before Thanksgiving, Dallas and I began a discussion about whether or not we needed to brine the turkey. Initially, I didn't think we needed to, but after two neighbors highly recommended brining, I consulted with Dallas. I emphasized that the recipe I'd been planning to use said we could go either way and it would be okay. Dallas asked, "Do you want it to 'be okay' or 'be awesome?'" Well, when you word it like that... but I still wasn't sure it was worth the effort. Dallas was undaunted and said, "I'll brine it and you can take care of the rest." Deal.
Here he is reading instructions from our neighbor.
And here he is, finishing up with the brining. We didn't have a big pot so we just put it in the bag and and put the bag in a mixing bowl. Luckily the turkey wasn't too big so this seemed like it would work. Guess you'll have to check back tomorrow to find out how Thanksgiving went!
