Rise and shine, porcupines! Actually, the babes were up super early as always. It's mostly just waking up Dallas that takes some effort :)
Big yawn.
Dallas trying to figure out which baby is right next to him. It's Mabel. Olive is on his tummy.
I am impressed that all the girls had their hair "done." I don't require a lot for hair to be done - just something to keep the hair out of your face. Alice usually picks anywhere from 2-7 bows and Lucy usually picks 1-4 crowns and when Emma remembers, she usually picks a rubberband or a headband.
The girls tried to watch the Macey's parade while Dallas and I cooked. Well, actually, while Dallas made the turkey and I took care of the babies/ran on the treadmill. I had planned on making the turkey but the babes were super fussy and only wanted to be with me, so we figured I might as well get a run in while they were with me. They do surprisingly well while I run on the treadmill. As soon as I leave, they cry, but if they are on the ground playing while I run, they can be happy for a LOOOONG time. So win-win for me and babies and Dallas can now say he has made a turkey!
Watching the Macey's parade didn't last too long. Pretty soon we all made our way back upstairs to keep Dallas company while he slaved away on our Thanksgiving feast - specifically the turkey and pies.
Here's the girls making more for their Thanksgiving show...which I don't know that we ever did. I will have to check with them tomorrow if there was something more they wanted to do with this.
Happy swinging baby - this one is Mabel.
Dallas making his pie of the week - Apple Cranberry.
Dinner time! We made the turkey and potatoes and pie and our friends brought everything else! Here is Dallas with the entire feast. We forgot to get a pic with all of us. Shucks.
The babes enjoying some baby food.
The weather was AMAZING so the kids chose to eat outside.
Happy Emma with her favorite part of the meal - rolls! We never get rolls like this so it was super special.
Sweet Alice. She wanted to wear a fancy dress so she picked this lacy one.
Lucy-caboosy. A true cutie-pa-tootie. She saw Alice put on a fancy dress and decided she should wear this nice velvety one. Lucy is so aware of everything Alice and Emma do and she loves to follow them.
And the moment you've all been waiting for - a personal photo shoot for all the pies. Here is pumpkin. Dallas was just going to make his Apple-Cranberry one, but I requested he make the same pumpkin one he made around Halloween. Super yum.
Here is my berry one. Not the great. I essentially made the same berry mix I make for when we have waffles and then dumped it into a pie pan. And I used leftover pie crusts from Dallas' previous pies. And Dallas ended up rolling out the crusts and putting it all together for me. Sooo, really I just made the blackberry filling and Dallas took care of the rest. He even made that cute star to cover up a spot we broke.
Dum dum dum! Dallas' pie of the week! He was very proud of this pie and says it is his favorite so far. It was very yummy and super beautiful.
Plus, our neighbor brought pecan and dutch apple! Woah! My favorites were the pumpkin and pecan - which is crazy since I used to very strongly dislike both of those pies.
One more pic of Dallas' pie of the week.
It was a great Thanksgiving! Our first time to host and make actual food and not just itty-bitty sides. Something I would like to do better next year is have more activities for the kids - and not just on Thanksgiving but throughout the month. Thankfully, our kids are pretty good at thinking up and doing things on their own, but I want to plan and do more with them. My friend has a blog called sofestive.com and there are some things on there I would like to do - like reading this story with our kids.
