Tuesday, February 2
This title started out with "I Want My Body to Myself." That's because Tuesday night, when I just put a heading with the plan to fill it out later, this is the heading that came to mind. I had just rescued myself from having all five children on my lap and fighting over who got to sit on what side/part of me. This is one of those moments when I feel like my lap/body is not my own.
Although it is nice to be loved, sometimes I do not love people fighting over who gets to sit the closest to me. Anyway, I have since changed the title to be more representative of the pictures in this blog, but I figured I should explain the initial title. So now that that's taken care of, let's get down to business and talk about Tuesday, February 2, 2020. Groundhog day, I believe.
Due to the snow, Dallas had a late start today. So we slept in a bit. And we woke up to hearing happy little voices in the girls' room. I love waking up to that. I peeked in and found them all playing together on top of Emma's bed.
At another point in the morning, I heard Mabel on the stairs. I went to check on her and found that Alice was already there, "spotting" her and giving her little loves.
As soon as Emma and Alice heard a phone click/realized photos were being taken, they rushed to the stairs. We have zero camera-shy children. :)
Today we made Lucy a violin chart! Dallas keeps feeling like Lucy just doesn't want to learn, but I reminded him that Emma and Alice also needed some encouragement when they first started. We did a sticker chart with them and I would often be a part of their lessons - either as an encouraging audience or I would have the girlies teach me what Dallas was teaching them. Anyway, it's been a long time (over two years) since we have had a babe just starting on the violin and hopefully today is the beginning of us consistently working with Lucy.
She is so cute and really does want to learn. I think she just sees her sisters playing and wants to jump to be doing everything by herself and Dallas has to remind her to work with him and not do her own thing.
These two little girls have found the fridge and make a B-line for it every time I open it...which I am realizing happens quite frequently. I love Olive's face here.
And I love that Mabel has a jenga block in her hand this whole time. The babies have really learned the skill of taking things with them everywhere they go.
Olive is usually the instigator.
She gets to the fridge first and pulls herself up to the shelf and tries to reach anything she can.
And Mabel is always close behind.
Not the greatest picture - but this happens so often. One baby gets poked in the eye or kicked in the face or their hair gets pulled or toy gets stolen or water bottle gets yanked by the other sister. And it doesn't even faze them. This is just normal life I guess.
While I was in with the babies, Dallas had gone out sledding with the girls.
The hill behind our house is not much. But it is perfect for our girls.
They could have sled ALL day.
After sledding, I had them take baths. Here they are, fresh and clean. With our Valentine's decorations. We put those up yesterday and they are SO happy that we have them.
And here's a pic of Lucy, just because. She is with her picnic basket. Which she loves. That was a great gift from Alice.
Those babies getting into the fridge are so cute!
ReplyDeleteI am impressed that you are teaching your kids violin. I pulled out my violin the other day and Vincent enjoyed putting it up to his chin and pulling the bow over the strings. I never thought to try to teach my kids an instrument so young, but then again, that’s why your kids are so talented!
