Sunday, February 14
This was a nice, slow Sunday! The party yesterday was super fun - but it took a lot of work, so it was kind of nice to have a slower day today. Also since we had the party yesterday, we didn't have our traditional "fancy breakfast" Saturday. That would have been too much rich food within just a few hours of each other. So, we had the fancy breakfast today - and the girls were very excited about it. They are ALWAYS excited about fancy breakfasts, but today was especially thrilling because we made CHOCOLATE WAFFLES!
But before we got cooking, here's Dallas feeding the babies. And the girlies wearing their robes. Haha. I love that they do that sometimes. They mostly just do it on special days.
When I first woke up, Emma mentioned something about me having a special gift for them. I've done that before and had planned to do it again, but I'd already given them their valentine's leggings a few days earlier (in case Alice wanted to wear them to school) and they had gotten pretty much all the chocolates and treats yesterday at the party. I kind of mentioned that to her and figured it was okay that we didn't have a special something waiting for them - especially since we did that party.
But then, as I was making the waffles, Emma asked about it again. I figured I could still make it happen. I went and grabbed the girls' leggings out of their drawers, put some chocolate hugs and kisses into little valentine's cups and then I perused our closet - that's where I stash gifts that might come in handy later. Sure enough, I found some perfect gifts. Here's the girlies checking them out.
A couple weeks ago, I saw these waiter/waitress dress-ups on FB marketplace and KNEW Emma and Alice would LOVE them - because they love pretending our kitchen is a restaurant and taking our orders. And I had gotten the little oven on FB marketplace before Christmas. I was pretty sure Lucy would love that - especially with how much she loved her picnic basket from Alice. Each gift was five bucks and TOTALLY WORTH IT! The girlies did love them! They played with their stuff the whole rest of the day. :)
Here's Emma and Alice wearing their outfits and everyone checking out Lucy's oven and food.
Yeppers. Pretty cute.
We also gave them the "Guess Who" game - we got that from a friend at church. :)
Cute babies just chilling in their high chairs.
Olive's trying to get that whole fist in there.
And here's my sweet Dallas - entertaining the babies while also slaving away chopping up strawberries for our delicious breakfast.
The girlies have already switched outfits with each other. I didn't know who would like which...turns out the pink one was the favored one. I just reminded them that of our rule "Things that don't get shared get given away or thrown away." That usually helps them "find a way to play together" - that's from a Daniel Tiger song. That often helps too.
A picture of Lucy coming down the stairs just cause she is so funny and cute.
Oooooooh yea. Check that out. Chocolate waffles, strawberries, eggs, and sausage. Yum.
Alice is so cute! She is totally rocking the red outfit.
Happy little Lucy and Emma hard at work getting her apron on. Notice all their matching leggings - got those at Aldi. Let it be known - Aldi does not make great clothes. They are cute and warm (flannel inside) but they kind of fall off the girls. Oh well, they were festive and the girlies love matching each other.
Emma playing "Guess Who" with Dallas. This game was also a great gift.
Sheesh ka peesh. Not only did we have a delicious breakfast, but then a super yum pie! A beautiful cherry one. :) We had to use frozen cherries since it's not really cherry season.
It was pretty good, but we will have to try another one when it's actually cherry season.
I made cookie dough a few days ago and brownies Friday night and today we got them all cooked and bagged up and ready to go. Then we visited our primary kids from church and some other families as well.
I was really happy to go do this, but I was feeling pretty sick but the third house. We did like three more houses and then I told Dallas we needed to go home - I had a slightly pounding headache and thought I might throw up. I'm sure it had to do with not enough sleep and way too many treats. So we went home and decided we would deliver the rest of the treats tomorrow.
On the way home, I texted our neighbors that we probably wouldn't make it to their Chinese New Year dinner. I was so disappointed. I had been looking forward to going. We decided Dallas and the older girls should still go though.
So I laid on the floor in our bedroom (with my head on a nice big comfy pillow) while the twins crawled all around me and played. I thought Dallas and the girls would be home pretty soon, but after an hour they were still out. I was feeling much better so I scooped up the babies and headed over to our neighbor's. And they were still there! And there was still lots of delicious Chinese food!
I am so grateful I got better so quickly and got to go spend time with Dallas and our neighbors while our kids played down in the basement. It was a really great Sunday/Chinese New Year Celebration/Valentine's Day.
Here's a pic I took of the babies while I recuperated on the floor. They were so happy and cute and just let me rest while they entertained me with their cute giggles and happy faces.
And here's a 2-minute video of the babies playing. I was especially trying to get Mabel's little roaring sounds.
