Valentine's Plan, Christmas Gifts, Mail

Monday, February 1

Initially the title for this post was, "I Want My Kids Home Forever." Once again, this is just what was on my mind when I wrote down a quick title for the day. There are definitely days where I feel like I need my space and would like some Amy-time. But there are so many other times when I worry about my kids not being home with me all the time.

I worry about what they might learn from other children and adults. And I don't want anyone to ever hurt them. I want to always be there for them (which is another post to talk about someday - I never worried about dying until I was a mom. Now the thought of not being for my children is so so hard). I don't want my kids to change. They are so good and they are so sweet and safe here at home. I really like my kids. I mean, I definitely do not always show that or remember that, but every night, after they are asleep, all I can think about is how wonderful they are and how much I always want to be with them. So yea, not super profound, but that is what I meant when I typed "I Want My Kids Home Forever."

Okay, onto the pictures for the day.

Last night I told the girlies we could start planning for Valentine's today. Emma was so excited she said, "Mom! I am going to fall asleep right now so I can wake up SUPER early and get started planning!" Alice got excited and said, "Me too!" And that was followed by Lucy, "Also me!"

And these babes never forget. They were up dark and early and got their morning jobs done right away and then headed downstairs and set to business. When I came downstairs, this is what I saw.

They were very seriously discussing what they should put on their Valentine's lists.

And here they go, writing down all their plans.

Check out Lucy's hair. Bed hair and she don't care. She is so funny! She loves to get dressed up like Alice does, but she also doesn't care at the same time.

This is a picture of the Christmas present Emma gave to Dallas and I. I decided today that I had to throw away the back, but I wanted to remember it, so I took a picture.

Emma was so thoughtful and created this gift all on her own and wrapped it up for us for Christmas. She created a game, complete with instructions, a board, and pieces. Don't worry, I didn't throw away the actual game, just the box it was in. We played it with her Christmas morning, but we definitely need to play it again.

These babies are really good about not going down the stairs. They can fly up them like a champ, but they are wise enough to know they should not attempt to go down yet. This is Olive.

Dallas was home for a snow day so here he is doing some push-ups with the girls. This is Mabel.

The girlies got some valentine's in the mail from Dallas' sister Chelsy. Letters and packages in the mail are so fun!

Here's Lucy showing off her valentine and gift.

And they also got Valentine's and gifts from Dallas' mom! Lucky girls :)

Alice trying out the candy from Chelsy. Gave her lips a nice green color.

Lucy also wants in on the photo action.

And Emma is chill about the whole thing.

Oh! So, lesson learned today. It is way cheaper to go to USPS than UPS. You probably already knew that. Here's how I learned. We had some packages to send to Dallas' siblings and parents (it was supposed to happen at Christmas so we are quite late). I went to UPS and the lady said it would be about 15 dollars per package. Hmmm. I asked her if USPS might be cheaper and she said possibly. I went over there and the same packages were only 8.50 to ship, plus she gave me an even BIGGER envelope. So we could have sent EVEN MORE stuff! So long as it wasn't over SEVENTY pounds! Holy cow - are people sending bricks in the mail? Anyway, now I know USPS is the way to go for shipping packages.

And here's our cute babies at dinner. Again, you're probably thinking, "Haven't we already seen a ba-jillion pics of your babies?" Probably.

Alice said something so sweet tonight. All the girls were in bed and  I was just getting ready to plop down on the floor and lay next to Lucy's bed when out of nowhere Alice said, "Mom, maybe this year for Christmas we shouldn't get any presents." Oh - why? "Well, then we can give stuff to other kids." We talked about it some more - to make sure she understood what she was suggesting. And she did. Wow. I am impressed. I probably buy too much stuff for my kids - they are naturally so sweet and probably don't need all the stuff I get them. I don't want them to lose that sweetness.
