First snow of the year! Honestly, it could hardly be called snow, but the girls aren't picky and were completely excited anyway.
Here's a pic of the babes with these super cute bandana bibs Dallas' sister made for them.
You see how Olive is almost completely turned around? That's usually how BOTH babies are. Makes it really hard to feed them when they insist to look the other way the whole time. We're lucky that today Mabel is facing forward. :)
Oh hey! Here they both are!
So cute.
Alright, alright, enough already with the babies in bandana bibs. Just wanted you to get a side profile of Mabel. All done.
Emma woke up and right away got all her morning jobs done because she wanted to go play in the snow. So as soon as we'd eaten breakfast, she and her sisters got all suited up to go play in the whopping two centimeters of snow on our deck. It might have been a bit more than that. It didn't matter though - the girls LOOOOOOOOOOVED it. Somehow they played on that deck over an hour.
Meanwhile these babies played inside with me. They've started climbing over each other to get to where they need to go. It's kind of funny.
"Hey mom!" That's Olive looking straight at us and Mabel looking out toward the window.
A tired Emma after all that snow playing. And here is Lucy chomping down some carrots. Maybe one of her favorite foods. Way to go, Lucy!
After Emma's morning school session and the babies' naps, we headed over to a friend's house. The girls had such fun and did not want to leave. In fact, as soon as Emma finished school in the afternoon she asked if we could go back. :)
This swing was definitely one highlight.
And the babies loved all the stacking material that they could knock over.
You can tell they just woke up - they still have just-woke-up hair.
Check out those tongues. They got that from me. They must be thinking really hard about something.
Lucy in the swing.
So cool. If we didn't already have a ba-jillion toys in our house, we could get a swing like this. Maybe we should just get rid of all our toys in exchange for a swing...
Alice and Dallas helped feed our friends' fish when they were on a trip. Here's Alice in front of the aquarium and remembering those good ole' days with Dallas.
Look at these babies - all grown up and practicing their standing.
Back at home and the babies have found another window! I sold our fireplace so I moved the bench that was in front of this window. The babies have been so excited to peek out of it now that there is nothing in their way.
Little Olive standing at the window.
Mabel getting ready to pull herself up on the highchair.
Look, mom! A red cardinal!
Guess who's in the laundry hamper and who is hiding under the red scarf.
Alice was under the scarf...
And Lucy is in the hamper!
Alice was nursing her babies. I asked her if I covered my head when I nursed my babies. She said no, but this is still how she nursed her baby doll.
And here she is reading to her baby.
Okay. So we really must be tiring out our children. Today is Lucy's half birthday (officially 2.5!) and I thought we could celebrate by trying out no naps. You can see how that went. The poor babe crashed around 3. I gave her a bag of goldfish and then went upstairs to take care of something. The next thing I know, Alice has run up the stairs and is telling me Lucy fell asleep. It has been about 20 minutes since I gave her the snack. I thought she was going to go down to the basement and play with Emma and Alice, but she never made it. She fell asleep on her stool.
This is what Emma and Alice did while Lucy and the babies napped.
They created an ENTIRE CITY! They were so proud of it and so excited to show it to me. Way to go, girls! This is what Dallas was picturing and dreaming of when he decided we should get all sorts of building stuff for Christmas this year. His dream has now come true.
