I titled this "Sisters are the Best" because looking through the pictures and reflecting on the day, I realized just how much our girls do together and how much they love being together.
But let's start with this morning...which actually starts with last night. Last night Alice felt disappointed because I wasn't able to read her a book that she specifically wanted me to read to her. I had been nursing the babies/getting them to bed so Dallas got started with bedtime stories with the girls. Dallas does bedtime 98% of the time and the girls are usually fine with that. But for some reason, on this night, Alice really wanted me to read this book to her. So when I came into the room, just as Dallas was finishing up Lucy's book, Alice burst into tears. Once I understood the problem, I whispered in her ear, "Hey Alice, how about I read it to you in the morning? Right when you wake up?" She sniffled and nodded and whispered back, "A mommy Alice date?" Yep! She calmed down and we got them into bed.
So, first thing this morning, Alice hopped into my chair and cuddled with me while we read My Favorite Things together. All throughout today I kept hearing her hum the song and I loved it. :)
Looks like Emma got to the phone before me this morning and snapped some photos of lil' Lucy while I was still upstairs.
Haha. I don't remember why Emma made this pose, but it makes me laugh. She changed into this outfit for black and white day at school - cause they were learning about penguins!

Emma had to finish up some school work this morning. She didn't seem super excited about it, so I told her she could listen to music while she worked. I offered some Disney options, but she chose my country music playlist...which does not get played very often because as you may or may not know, Dallas is not a country music fan. He is quite serious about it. Emma knows this, so she only listens when Dallas is not around. After listening to couple of songs (i.e. Maria, If You're Gonna Play in Texas, Meet in the Middle), Emma came up to me and said, "I know who I want to marry." You do? "Yep, someone who sings country music!" Hehe. That guy is going to have to be a GREAT tennis or racquetball player to get on Dallas' good side.
Emma also finished Anne of Green Gables today! She loved it! This was her first legit chapter book to finish. It was an abridged version - but I would still consider it legit.

I spent a good part of the morning uploading Emma's pictures for school. I am apparently one of those moms who continually forgets to upload their kid's work. If Emma fails kindergarten, it will be my fault. Meanwhile, Alice and Lucy have been mighty quiet. Where are they?
Aha! Checking out our new light! It is kind of cool. It can be a ba-jillion colors. Why? I don't know. I really just need white, but whatever. The kids like it. Dallas does too. Anyway, I loved walking into my room and seeing this little picture.
Alice and Lucy haven't had as many years together as Emma and Alice (obviously). So they have just recently started really playing together (usually while Emma is doing school) and it is so sweet.
Yep. We could watch this light change colors ALL day.
Here they are telling me about the game they were playing before they got distracted by the light.
Alice is a person and Lucy is a magic-baby! If Lucy touches the puppy on her shirt, she turns into a puppy! And Alice takes care of her.
Looks like Lucy must have touched the puppy on her shirt and turned into a puppy.
Back to a person!
Some of Emma's work I uploaded this morning.
Emma made this little book for Alice for Christmas (she made the book into a necklace so Alice could wear it). She told Alice she could take it to preschool so she could always remember Emma. Oh so sweet! These babes are killing me! Anyway, we forget to take it almost every time we go to preschool. But today, we remembered!
Well lookie here. These babes are climbing up the stairs like it's nothing at all!
But as soon as they see me, it's a lot harder for them to focus.
Haha! They made it up the stairs and then I put them both in the crib while I vacuumed. I came into their room to see this.
Sweet little Lucy had hopped into the crib and was reading them books!
The babes were laughing and giggling and Lucy was doing such a great job showing them the Peek-a-Who books.
Haha. The babes kept grabbing this back and forth from each other.
Hey mom! Olive is pretty pleased that she now has the book.
Just two happy babies.
Sucking on a Daniel Tiger and the crib. That Daniel Tiger is well-loved.
Lucy loves her chapstick! You gotta watch out if you have any - 'cause she will find it. She's got a sixth sense for it. I have hidden chapstick in so many places, but she always finds it.
Yum. Those lips are WELL moisturized.
Dallas is home and dinner is done and it is Monday! Which means, for this month, we are working on art. Dallas and I decided to have themes for the month and this month's theme is art. Dallas is in charge of art month so tonight he taught the girls a bit about an artist and then let them go to town with play-doh.
This picture may not show it...but the LOVED it! Lucy especially.
The girlies did play-doh for at least an HOUR...maybe more. (Dallas' face is great in this pic). After a bit, Dallas and I started asking each other "trivia" questions. Trying to figure out how well we knew each other. It was fun asking each other questions and it was so easy to do while the girls were happily playing with play-doh.
I was trying hard to get the girls to look at me. It worked once I told them I had ice-cream.
Something terrible must have happened.
Somehow we survived though.
Lucy's face is saying "best day ever!" Which honestly, this probably was because she LOOOOOOVES play-doh and we don't do it that often. I'm really glad we did it tonight though because this is her LAST night of being 2. Tomorrow, she will be 2 1/2.
She was so sad when we said it was time to go to bed. I had Dallas take Emma and Alice up and gave Lucy a little more time to make one last cake with her play-doh. I think I also had accidentally squashed her cake and put it back in the container and she was heart-broken, so I figured she should have more time. PLUS it was her half-birthday eve and like I said, she LOOOOOVES play-doh.
Here she is, proudly showing me her cake with frosting.
There's that excited Lucy face we know so well!
When the girlies were going to bed, Emma told Lucy that on her birthday eve she said, "Good-bye 5. Thanks for a good year!" and encouraged Lucy to do the same. Alice also told her she should. I was cuddling with sweet Lucy this whole time and it was so cute hearing Lucy say, "Good-bye 2 - thank you!"
Right before bed, the girls finished out the night with a quick round of koosh-ball and Kung-Fu fighting. Alice's request. :)
